From BMX racing to downhill to MTB school: A life full of passion for cycling
Who am I and what defines me?
I'm a father of two living in Innsbruck who loves mountain biking. My roots are in BMX racing, from which I switched to downhill. I was once on the national team, but that was in the '90s. Since 1996, I've been giving riding technique courses and founded the mountain biking school Bikeride in the Ruhr area in 1999. Now I give many courses in the Alpine region and train guides and riding technique instructors for the DIMB. I love passing on my passion, sharing my extensive experience, and constantly learning. Unfortunately, I'm now smarter rather than faster. ;-)
From racer to pleasure rider: Why mountain biking is pure joy
Racing or cycling?
I raced for 35 years. It was great. Now just cycling. Because I love it with all my heart!
Best MTB experience?
Every moment on the bike is the best experience when I truly live that moment.
Why do I love mountain biking?
The combination of effort, challenge, nature experience, scenery, action, and flow flips a switch in me that just makes me happy.
Proudest moment?
That I can somehow make a living from cycling. And above all, that I still enjoy cycling as much as I did when I was 11 years old. However, I am more grateful for this than proud.
