Trails, progress, and community: What drives me to bike
Who am I and what defines me?
Hey, I'm Luca, 25 years old, and I've been a passionate mountain biker for over 11 years. My heart beats for downhill racing, but I'm always up for a good send – which has earned me a reputation among my friends for occasionally pulling off spectacular crashes. Besides racing, I work in the summer as a guide for multi-day tours through the Alps and am currently in the middle of my Wing. I'm also doing my master's in Karlsruhe on the side.
Racing or just cycling? And why?
After just six months on the bike, I started racing – and it was the best decision! Racing helps you develop incredibly quickly. I'm particularly fascinated by the focus required in a race run. In that moment, nothing else matters, and that's exactly what I love about it.

Best MTB experience?
The Dream Track in Queenstown, New Zealand – an absolute highlight that's definitely at the top of my list!
Why do you love MTB riding?
For me, MTB riding is the perfect escape from everyday life. The adrenaline rush, the spectacular trails, and the opportunity to meet new people with the same passion make biking indispensable. It also takes me to beautiful places I would never have discovered without my bike.
Proudest moment?
2022 was an incredible season for me: I felt great on the bike all year and secured 10th place in the iXS Downhill Cup Overall Ranking – my best performance yet! :-)
Tip for young talents?
Don't constantly compare yourself to others. Focus on making your own progress and having fun riding!
