Racing, nature & adventure: Why mountain biking is more than just a sport to me

Who am I and what defines me?

I've been involved in mountain biking for almost 10 years. I've been racing for nearly as long, and after spending several years on a downhill bike, I'm now on an enduro. My beginnings were marked by self-built jumps in the woods and skatepark sessions with the dirt jump bike. That's probably where my smooth riding style comes from. I like to find alternative lines and try to ride as smoothly and flowy as possible.

Racing, fun, and the perfect trail

Racing or cycling?
Racing. However, racing is just the cherry on top for me. I simply enjoy training properly and have a lot of fun doing it. The race is the goal, but I enjoy the entire preparation process and am happy when things go well during the race.

Best MTB experience?
Since I'm a racer, it has to be a race, of course. My favorite track is Maribor, I was there for the European Cup in 2019 and had a smile on my face all weekend because the track is just great. In the final, my chain came off shortly after the start, which ruined a good result, of course. But I (almost) didn't care, it was more than worth it for the track!

Why do I love mountain biking?
The combination of nature and sport is the biggest attraction for me. A long day in the saddle in good weather with a good crew is exactly what I appreciate about MTB. You're free and always have a bit of adventure with you.

Proudest moment?
I'm also a track builder and finance my studies and my sport that way. Last year, I implemented a small trail park. Seeing how the tracks are embraced after the hard work and how everyone enjoys them definitely made me proud.

Tip for young talents:
Spend as much time as possible with the sport. Whether it's cycling or building tracks, it doesn't matter. The main thing is to have fun!
